Walking Buddy Privacy Policy
Walking Buddy does not collect any data. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and makes no network requests with your data. Everything the app knows stays on your device.
Health data
Walking Buddy reads your step count and walking distance from Apple Health (HealthKit), with your permission, to show your progress and schedule walking reminders. The app only reads this data - it never writes to Apple Health, and health data never leaves your device. Health data is not used for advertising and is not shared with anyone, in accordance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines.
Goals and settings
Your step goals, reminder preferences, and unit settings are stored locally on your device (and in the app's private iCloud-free app group so the widget can display them). Deleting the app deletes this data.
Notifications
Walking reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. No notification content is sent to any server.
Things you choose to share
Three features produce files from your data, and each one only leaves your device when you pick a destination in the iOS share sheet (Messages, Mail, Photos, another app). Walking Buddy never sends them anywhere on its own.
- Share image (History → Share): a picture with your average, total, goal days, streak and best day for the selected range. It is rendered on your device.
- Steps export (Steps Log → Share): a CSV file with one line per day (date, steps, distance, goal met).
- Diagnostics report (Settings → Send Diagnostics): a zip with the app's own log lines, app and iOS version, device model, locale, free storage, your Walking Buddy preferences (goal, reminder and unit settings), a summary of the widget's last snapshot (steps, goal, age), and crash records if any. It contains no health history beyond today's step count in the widget summary. Tokens and addresses are redacted before the file is written. Send it to the support address by mail, or not at all; nothing is uploaded in the background.
Open-source components
The app includes the open-source libraries listed under iOS Settings → Walking Buddy → Acknowledgements. None of them makes network requests in the released app.
Subscriptions
Walking Buddy Pro is an auto-renewable subscription processed entirely by Apple through your App Store account. Walking Buddy has no access to your payment details. Apple's handling of that data is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.
Changes
If this policy ever changes (for example, if a future version adds optional crash reporting), the change will be described here with a new effective date before it takes effect.
